Utility-scale renewable energy developer-operator Masdar said on Friday (17 January) that it has selected CATL to supply battery energy storage system (BESS) equipment alongside fellow Chinese companies Jinko Solar and JA Solar as solar PV module suppliers.
[pdf] The BESS comprises 27 containers, each of 2.5MWh capacity. The containers were designed and assembled by TotalEnergies’ battery subsidiary Saft. According to TotalEnergies, the project is built to ensure enough supply of electricity in the national grid, particularly during peak winter periods.
[pdf] German system integrator Asantys Systems GmbH has supplied 20 containerized solar power systems to US-owned, Nairobi-based minigrid developer PowerGen. PowerGen will use the systems for a series of projects in Sierra Leone under the Rural Renewable Energy Project (RREP) initiative.
