As a cornerstone of SaudiVision2030, the Red Sea project now stands as the world's largest microgrid energystorage project, with a storage capacity of 1.3GWh. Utilizing Huawei’s Smart String ESS solution, this groundbreaking project is redefining renewable energy infrastructure.
[pdf] The project will be built as a model of 100 MW HV cascade grid-connected energy storage system, introducing a large-scale energy storage development scheme that can be replicated, promoted and expanded, applicable to the modular and standardized development of large-scale energy storage power stations, and bringing application value and practical reference to related industries.
[pdf] Installed by Switzerland-based MET Group, the project is powered by Tesla Megapack 2 units, supplied by Huawei Technologies’ battery units, and built by Forest-Vill and follows a smaller 4 MW / 8 MWh pilot at the same site in 2022.
