The Government of Burkina Faso has signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with a local developer and a Dutch clean energy investment firm to develop a major solar and battery storage system.
[pdf] According to the request for proposals issued on July 30, the program calls for 16 standalone projects, each rated at 10MW/40MWh, totaling 160MW/640MWh of four-hour storage capacity. Selected developers will design, build, own, and operate the systems under 15-year agreements.
[pdf] The project, one of the largest renewable energy developments in the country to date, will supply electricity to over 300,000 households, significantly improving power availability while helping reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 50,000 tons annually.
