The Government of Burkina Faso has signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) agreement with a local developer and a Dutch clean energy investment firm to develop a major solar and battery storage system.
[pdf] In a recent project on a large, densely populated island, DEPCOM modeled 15 different battery systems with varying technologies and multiple system configurations against local requirements to save millions in avoided augmentation, replacement and installation costs.
[pdf] The project, considered the world's largest solar-storage project, will install 3.5GW of solar photovoltaic capacity and a 4.5GWh battery storage system. The project has commenced in November 2024.
