DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company, and Fluence Energy, a global energy storage company, have announced the early start of commissioning for Ukraine’s largest battery energy storage project with 200 megawatts (MW) of connected power.
[pdf] On May 21st, DTEK has officially launched Ukraine’s first industrial lithium-ion energy storage system, installed at the Zaporizhzhya Power Plant in the city of Energodar, with a capacity of 1 MW/2.25 MWh.
[pdf] The batteries, varying from 20 to 50 megawatts each, form a 200 megawatt system — enough to power 600,000 Ukrainian homes for two hours — that reduces blackout risks and helps stabilize the grid.
