How many solar panels do I Need?

If you are using only 300-watt solar panels, you will need 17 300-watt solar panels for a 5kW solar system (17 × 300 watts is actually 5100 watts, so this is a 5.1kW system). If you are using only 400-watt solar panels, you will need 13 400-watt solar panels for a 5kW solar system (13 × 400 watts is actually 5200 watts, so this is a 5.2kW system).

Can you mix solar panels with different wattages?

You can also mix solar panels with different wattages. Example: For a 10 kW solar system, you can use 33 300-watt PV panels (9900 watts) + 1 100-watt solar panel to bring the total up to 10,000 watts or 10kW solar system. This is a 10kW solar system.

How do I set up solar panels?

Select the nominal voltage of your battery bank. Select the lowest temperature that you expect your solar panels to be exposed to in daylight. Enter the number of solar panels wired in series. If you have multiple strings in parallel, enter the number of series-wired solar panels in each string.
